The Simpsons: Tapped Out was a mobile town builder for iOS and Android developed in a custom c++ engine. The game had an extensive XML scripting setup that allowed for content updates without client updates. The game loop consisted of collecting and placing buildings, decorations and characters from the show and sending them out on timed jobs to generate currency, progress plotlines and unlock more content. The game content releases were based on episodes and events from the TV show and featured comedic writing and interactions.
I was a programmer on seasonal content teams then on tools and tech. While on seasonal content I would handle UI implementation, dialog system updates, camera tweaks and custom content for updates like the monorail movement, placement, and updates to the render tree to account for the monorail. On the tools and tech team I built the daily quest system, updated camera systems, helped develop a minigame system and rebuilt parts of the FTUE.
